Minneapolis VA doctor is Physician of the Year

The American Legion’s 2019 Physician of the Year is a Minnesota doctor.

In early November, the headquarters of The American Legion notified the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Health Administration, the VA Midwest Health Care Network and the Minneapolis VA Health Care System that Dr. Megan Press, a general psychiatrist at the Minneapolis facility, was selected.

The award will be presented at the 2020 Washington Conference on Tuesday, March 10. Another ceremony is planned for 9 a.m. Dec. 19 in the auditorium at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Jeremy Wolfsteller, the Legion’s department service officer at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, nominated her.

“I cannot think of a finer physician for this distinguished award,” Wolfsteller said in his nomination papers.

“The American Legion recognizes that national recognition can motivate these VA employees to remain with the VA and combat the burnout that they may be experiencing,” Wolfsteller told The Minnesota Legionnaire.

Press has been a Minneapolis VA doctor for 15 years.
