Veterans Day on the Hill

Let’s see our state lawmakers and tell them to support veterans

ST. PAUL — Veterans Day on the Hill 2024 will be April 17.

American Legion National Commander Daniel J. Seehafer will be the keynote speaker. Veterans, their supporters, news media and the general public are invited.

The DAV of Minnesota will provide a free lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Armory, 600 Cedar St. Doors open at 10 a.m.

The Veterans March is at 1 p.m. and goes from the Armory to the Veterans Service Building, then to the State Capitol. There is a Rally in the Rotunda from 1:15-2 p.m.

Topics include passing a veterans omnibus bill, increasing the property tax exclusion, giving property tax relief to veterans organizations, among others. See the Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force Legislative Priorities and the American Legion Department of Minnesota Priorities on this page for more.

The DAV of Minnesota has offered to assist posts with the cost of transportation. It will pay for half, but posts cannot charge for rides, not even free-will offerings.

Transportation reimbursement forms can be requested from the DAV’s Trent Dilks at trent@davmn.org.

A minibus will run from the Armory to the House and Senate office buildings between 10 and 11:30 a.m. for veterans who have made appointments to see lawmakers in advance.
