Department Convention is on track to happen in mid-July

REDWOOD FALLS — The Department of Minnesota Convention is back on after a year hiatus resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is slated to happen July 15-17 at Jackpot Junction Casino and is hosted by Redwood Falls Post 38. Please note that some committees will meet around 4 p.m. July 14. The Department Executive Committee meets at 7 p.m. July 14.

Registration is $15, with checks payable to “American Legion Post 38.” Please write “Dept. Convention” in the memo. Credit cards are not accepted. Registration after July 1 goes up to $18.

A check must accompany each registration form. Mail the forms and checks to Redwood Falls Post 38, P.O. Box 354, Redwood Falls, MN 56283.

Please book your own housing reservations directly with the hotel. Hotel rooms at the casino are $90 a night, plus tax. Use Block 78196 or say “American Legion Convention” when making a reservation. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year, we will hold an American Legion Family Entertainment Night from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 15.
This will be a family-friendly event open to all registered members of The American Legion Family.

The band Walter’s Wheelhouse will provide the entertainment. The casino will set up a hot dog stand and cash bar as well.
There will not be a parade or hospitalities on Friday, July 16.
